On Halloween, I started filming “Happiest Day” my little Zombie short. I am truly surprised and grateful for all my friends who took time out of there busy lives to help me with this. As of now, I have two shots left to do and I plan on completing them tomorrow and after that begins the arduous task of post-production. @ZeroFunction took some amazing photos some of which you can find here.

But that isn’t it. I am also working on another sceenplay.. a feature-length screenplay! Right now it is in the outline phase but I’ll give you a peek below…

I just want to say thanks to all my friends and I hope they had fun because I might ask them do it again.

I’ve been shooting on the Sony FX-7, which is a great camera but like most prosumer HD camcorders it doesn’t have interchangeable lens and doesn’t do a good shallow depth of field. To get those things on this camera I would have to get a letus elite which costs more than the 7D! It also records 1080 24p which was a major sore spot for me with the Sony FX-7’s 1080 60i. Needless to say I am excited about the opportunities that the 7D affords me. And it shoots amazing stills too.

Here are some links to some videos and blogs that I’ve found extremely helpful.

Rewrite! is a 1 to 2 page makeover or addition to a scene to a major motion picture. It is a way for me to change something(s) that didn’t sit well with me in the final version of the movie.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD.

In preparation of seeing Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, I decided to look back at the first Michael Bay Transformers movie and give it the rewrite treatment. For what Transformers was, a tent-pole-summer-popcorn-michael-bay-action-pack-extravaganza , it wasn’t a bad movie, but I felt that the movie had an opportunity to be more. I felt that story, characterization, and emotion fell to the side of the pure spectacle of CGI robots fighting. (Which did look amazing, ILM!)

I think that the screenwriters and directors should have borrowed heavily from “The Iron Giant”, and the way I envision this treatment is more as an Stephen Spielberg/child-like-wonder story. Imagine E.T. but with CGI robots. Here Sam is a boy, rounding out the age of 10. He is an introverted child, who instead of playing with kids decides to stay at home with his LEGOs.

EXT. CITY PARK – NIGHT

The giant Autobot, OPTIMUS PRIME, bends over to look at the tiny cockroach of a human, Sam, that heroically stands before him.

Now eye to eye with the giant, Sam readjusts his stature. Sam reaffirms...

SAM

I said don’t.

Sam backs down a little.

SAM (CONT’D)

You can’t go out there (points to the city lights on the horizon) to fight. There are people there... They’ll get hurt. They might die. YOU might die.

Wow, ok that one was a little short. Just go see “The Iron Giant” and you’ll get the drift.

Preface: Since I have been listening and reading more movie reviews, I’ve wanted to start posting reviews on this site. Lately, I’ve been thinking of a way of putting my little spin to them that will make them stand out. I think I found it. I am hoping that this will continue and add to my film education.

Rewrite! is a 1 to 2 page makeover or addition to a scene to a major motion picture. It is a way for me to change something(s) that didn’t sit well with me in the final version of the movie.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD.

First things first, I didn’t like X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I think that it had a lot of potential, but an inferior script left a movie where there is a bunch of action and no characterization and no resemblance to the prior X-Men films.

There are a lot of scenes I felt I could have rewritten. One was putting the Adamantium process at the end and make that wipe Wolverine’s memory, but ultimately I felt that changing a scene early one would have had the greatest impact and could of lead to a different movie than what we have now.

These scenes fall somewhere before the horrific Wolverine vs. Helicopter scene. The hope is that after these scenes we get some better Team X/Weapon X scenes and a better ending.
